The Omaha Poker Game

Both Texas Hold'em and Omaha have a resemblance; they are both played with five local cards, but each game has a difference. There are actually two versions of the Omaha game, the Omaha High and the Omaha Hi/Lo split . The game may be played with Pot Limit and No limit.

Let us tackle the Limit Omaha High game: The rules of the Limit Omaha High game are reasonably easy to learn. The Limit Hold'em on the other hand has a structured betting procedure, while the lowest limit that the player can usually find in many casinos is at a $2/$4. Players may find other limits with 5/10, 10/20, or sometimes even higher.

With regard to the dealer, (casinos supply dealers), the players rotate. A "button" or disk is used to determine the dealer, and this passes to the left every hand played. Not like at stud, almost all the players do not go ante with every round. The blinds are posted as generated to the beginning pot, just the way it is in the game Texas Hold'em.

To begin the new hand, the two bet "blinds" are put up, or "posted". The first player, located on the left, posts a little blind that is about half of the lowest bet. Other players do not place up any more money to begin the hand.

After all the blinds are posted, every player is dealt four cards facing down; the player on the little blind gets the first card, and the other players, along with the dealer, will be getting the last card.

Cards are being dealt, facing up, located at the center of the table. This is called the "Flop". These cards are the local cards and they are used by all of the players. After the round of the betting is completed this is after the flop, the dealer will then burn one card and turns the fourth card facing upward at the center of the table. This is now called the "Turn".

To determine the winner of the game, the player needs to utilize two of their hole cards and three of the cards located at the "board" to build the best five-card hand.
