The Successful Poker Career of Vince Burgio

Vince Burgio was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He was also raised in this city and graduated with a bachelor's degree at the University of Missouri. It was only in 1976 when he decided to relocate to California in order to establish a construction company. He had always been knowledgeable of the game of poker but it was only in 1987 when he started to join tournaments on a regular basis.

Vince Burgio started making notable contributions to the industry in 1989. This was when he became a fourth placer in an event at the 5th Annual Diamond Jim Brady tournament that was held on August 12. And then, in the following years, he continued to experience money finishes in such poker events as the World Series of Poker and the Los Angeles Poker Classic.

On May 4, 1994, Vince Burgio proved the poker industry that he could achieve more than just money finishes. He placed first in a Limit Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo game at the 25th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournament and won US$127,200 as well as a WSOP bracelet. Among the poker professionals that he was able to beat were Jay Heimowitz and Howard Lederer.

In the same tournament, Vince Burgio also joined the US$10,000 No Limit Hold'em main event wherein he became the fourth placer.

At the 26th Annual World Series of Poker, Vince Burgio almost won first place but only ended as the third placer in a Limit Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo game.

In 1998, Vince Burgio became visible in several events but his participation in the 1998 Los Angeles Poker Classic and the California State Poker Championship are the most notable ones of all. He ended up as the first prize winner at these two major poker tournaments after successfully playing Limit Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo abd Low ball Draw games.

Vince Burgio was more active in 2000 as he had countless money finishes in that year. Aside from the World Series of Poker and the Los Angeles Poker Classic, he also participated in the Spring Poker Tournament, the Customer Appreciation Week tournament, the Shooting Star tournament, the Legends of Poker tournament, the Orleans Open tournament, the Pot of Gold tournament, the Big Poker Oktober, the World Poker Finals, and the Holiday Bonus Tournament.

The latest contribution of Vince Burgio in the industry is his seventh-place victory at the Grand Casino Tunica Poker Tournament of the Word Series of Poker on January 9, 2008.

Vince Burgio owes his achievements to the poker giants who have always been his inspiration. Among these professional poker players are Chuck Thompson, Ron McMillan, and Barry Johnston.

He is also an author of poker books, having written "Inside Poker: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Pizza, Pasta and Poker: The Private & Public Life of a Professional Poker Player."
